The active older carers project is a new project within Sefton Carers centre.
The aim of this project is to focus on the health and wellbeing activities of the older carers (60+) living in the borough of Sefton.
In November 2020, we consulted with older carers via a survey and had an overwhelming positive response. Over half of the older carers surveyed reported that their daily routine has been significantly affected due to Covid-19. Older carers stated that they are feeling bored, isolated, stressed and anxious with less or restricted access to services and support for themselves.
The project offers a range of activities which are tailored to suit the individuals needs and these will include, home based activity packs, small face to face groups in a Covid safe venue, north and south of the borough. (Group sessions are subject to government guidance) and online sessions. These will be based on your expression of interest in yoga, tai chi, chair-based exercises, meditation, arts and crafts to name a few. The project aims to overcome barriers including poor physical and mental health and focus on social isolation as an impact of Covid-19, and beyond.
The intention is to empower and support carers in their caring role and motivate them to stay healthy and active.
To access the project and indeed all our services for free you will need to register with us.
